The History of SmoothMovesForSeniors

Most great ideas begin at home -- with a defined need and a focused desire to meet that need. Smooth Moves is no exception.

Our Aunt Helen was in her 80s and living on her own. She needed occasional help with house repairs, maintenance, and seasonal cleaning. Aunt Helen didn’t want people she didn’t know or trust in her home to help her do the chores.

We wanted her to live closer so we could help her, while giving her space to be the independent soul she’d always been.

She wanted to live closer, but the idea of “downsizing” and sorting through decades worth of possessions was overwhelming. She enjoyed long-term relationships with nearby friends and didn’t want to uproot her life.

That winter, she fell and the accident put her in the hospital for several weeks. Recovery took time, and she felt isolated. That spring, she decided to preserve her freedom and eliminate the physical and financial drain of maintaining more house than she needed.

As the real estate agents in the family, she asked us for help. During the process, we saw both sides of this issue and learned more about the specific needs of her generation. With her help, we learned to nurture her freedom by helping implement her choices. She was the first “RightSizing” client we had!

We enjoyed it. We saw the brilliant results for her and were awed by her energy and joy. Since then, we have dedicated ourselves to helping others like Aunt Helen live life on their terms: To RightSize, Simplify, and Enjoy!
